"Rien ne M'arette de Grandir"
The CANARY Gallery is pleased to present the first solo show by Belgian born photographer, Nathalie Dubois. Nathalie's self printed silver gelatin architecture photographs depict an artform in both the darkroom and on the city streets that are slowly becoming forgotten. The popularity of the digital capture and printing medium have overshadowed a still existing niche market of darkroom printers, and the neglect of the city has aided the deterioration of some of it's most beautiful buildings. Dubois learned the old way, and through the tutelage of renowned local fine art photographer, Victoria Ryan, honed her printing skills at the now defunct darkroom at New Orleans Academy of Fine Art.
Dubois' solo show "Rien ne M'arette de Grandir" opens at the CANARY Gallery at 329 Julia St on December 6th - from 6-10. This show is in conjunction with the New Orleans Photo Alliance opening of PHOTO NOLA.
