Thanks to the greed and manipulation of Wall Street and its culture, New Orleans is going to see a surge in talent it has never and may never see again.
I have heard the chatter and I have met those who work hard, have ideas and the addiction for what New Orleans offers. They want to move down but need to wrap their heads around the lack of industry, starting their own thing or commuting to work with clients elsewhere.
We have the neighborhoods, the culture and the dollar that goes further than anywhere else worth moving to.
Viva NOLA. So far behind, we're ahead.

I couldn't agree more. And it's all about making that case when all the NOCVB can do is plaster Bourbon up on national billboards.
Part of this problem comes to a head in issues such as the RTA currently studying a downtown streetcar. The two alignments being considered are:
1). A new 'Desire' line that would connect Lee Circle and the St. Charles line to Press Street in the Bywater/St. Roch via Rampart and St. Claude; and,
2). Another Convention Center line. Despite the fact that the Riverfront line already runs along the Convention Center, because the connections from the Convention Center to the stops were planned so poorly the first time, the RTA, RPC, and others are looking to just build another line along the front of the building instead of spending money on better walkways and signage.
This is one of those quality of life issues: we can invest in our people and our neighborhoods by actually beginning to deliver transit and a symbol of change in our city that will galvanize locals and attract newcomers who don't want to own a car and who need evidence of things moving forward; or we can invest in a Disney line from Harrah's to the Convention Center.
