Let me say this now to be clear: If you harm my dog, any of my dogs, in anyway as was done in the story below I will become your worst nightmare.

I have talked with local pet rescue folks about this story and it seems that the police on the scene thought it was funny as the owner was in complete shock and grief covered in his own pet's blood. The dog was shot in the neck as it howled, through the mouth which broke out all its teeth and in the side to leave a large hole.
This is not the first time local police have killed barking dogs. I have heard of instances of it being done in front of owners in Jefferson Parish.
Anyone who does this to an animal deserves the same fate in my opinion.

Makes Michael Vick look like St Francis of Assisi. Some humans are just creatures. The pain that man endured with his dying dog cannot be imagined. I am going to go hug my dogs now.

I was really hoping that there would be some sort of reasonable explanation, although I seriously doubted it--8 shots taken at one dog is ridiculously excessive. If the cops were standing around laughing about it afterwards, that makes my stomach turn even more. Why in the hell can't we get a competent police force instead of this?

Real live persons die every day in this town as a result of poverty and crime, and you spend time mourning a dog with this degree of passion? I do not understand white people. I really don't.

Hey, Devil - the animals rely on US to take care of them. It's rare that an animal in its OWN backyard is out consciously committing a crime (other than whizzing on the azaleas) or putting itself in harms way.
Obviously YOU don't have any pets, nor should you have one for your callous response.
And just WHY do you think we are all White? What the Hail does that have to do w/the price of eggs?!?! What are you Purple? Do all purple peeps hate pet-loving other peeps?
